More About My Certifications:
AAC & AT Training - AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Augmentative means the addition of a tool or device to someone's communication to enhance their skills while Alternative means the use of something other than verbal speech and language to communicate. As a result, AAC encompasses all potential communication methods.

Bilingual Extension - This certification enables therapists to conduct evaluations and therapy in multiple languages. I am certified in Greek and can practice independently in that language while also providing services in other languages with the help of an interpreter.

TSSLD - The Teacher of Students with Speech-Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certification allows speech-language pathologists to work with school-aged children in New York State, facilitating them in educational settings.

ASHA CCC - The Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech-language Hearing Association (ASHA) is a nationally recognized credential that signifies a provider has met stringent academic and professional standards, demonstrating their ability to deliver high-quality evaluations and therapy. Maintaining the CCC requires ongoing professional development.

ABA Training - Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapeutic approach that utilizes behavioral knowledge in real-life contexts to promote positive behaviors and reduce harmful or maladaptive ones.

SOS Trained - The Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) approach to feeding is an evidence-based program that identifies and addresses the root causes of feeding challenges through a transdisciplinary team that evaluates and treats the "whole child."

PROMPT Trained - Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT) is a tactile-kinesthetic method where an SLP uses hands-on guidance to help clients correctly move their jaw, lips, and tongue to produce sounds, words, and other oral motor actions.

CPR/AED and First Aid Trained - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a critical emergency procedure used when someone's breathing or heartbeat has ceased, ensuring oxygen-rich blood continues to flow to vital organs until professional medical help arrives. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable device for treating sudden cardiac arrest. First Aid training equips individuals to assist infants, children, and adults in emergencies, such as cuts, concussions, hypothermia, etc.

CMT - Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) affect the muscles and functions of the face and mouth, impacting breastfeeding, growth, chewing, swallowing, breathing, speech, dental health, and hygiene. Being a Certified Myofunctional Therapist (CMT) means a provider can identify the root causes of oral motor issues and treat them holistically through comprehensive assessments and effective therapy strategies.
